coming out... of retirement
so... i hadn't posted to my old diaryland page i over a year, so i thought this was as good a time as any to switch to a new service. we'll try this blogger thing for a while to see how i like it. i wonder if anyone will read it... maybe if i IM folks and tell them to, or maybe if a post an announcement on the gtcrows blog. but anyway, a lot has happened since my last post; i got a big promotion at work and i came out to my parents, to name a few.
still living in dublin, obviously, and still not so crazy about the place, but feeling less vitriolic than some of my earlier posts would indicate. i'm tempted to go back and tone down some of the rhetoric, but i guess it is indicative of what i was feeling at the time.
it would be impossible to give a year's worth of updates in a single entry, so i'll just start with the present.
the governor was in dublin earlier this week as part of a 20-city tour of south georgia to promote his agenda. he was more partisan than i would have expected; he really blasted the house and the democratic leadership in general. two guys were there from the democratic party -- they were actually following behind his tour bus in their own car -- and he gave them an especially hard time. one of them was really cute, though, but i couldn't tell whether or not he was gay. love me some cute democrats.
this has also been a bad week for my car... got my air fixed, but it died again later that same afternoon. it needs a new evaporator core, which is a very expensive repair and i can't justify the cost for such an old car. and then wednesday i backed into dubose's truck out in the parking lot and busted out my right front turn signal. shit.
work is continuing to go exceptionally well. i won't go so far as to say i'll miss it when i leave, but i will look back on my experience here quite fondly. still planning on an august exit. should be interesting to see what i'll be doing in atl -- hopefully it won't involve being too poor. school is one option. so we'll see...
