weekend update...

i can guarantee you this won't be as funny as SNL, but what the hell. weekend was fun; stayed late in dublin friday to hit the gym, then caught dinner with mom and dad at the midtown grill in macon. mmm. ran into horace and his boy there, so that was cool.

drove up to atl after dinner and hit the red chair and the jungle with david and some of his friends. all evening we had been exchanging notes on who we thought was cute, who was our type, etc. when i saw this really cute guy at jungle and said to david, "damn. he is the epitome of my type." maybe an inch taller than me, trim, tattered hat with a perfectly curved bill, very fratboy... not 30 seconds after my comment, we make eye contact and he comes over and introduces himself and we end up exchanging numbers. then a few minutes later, this other guy and i start talking -- turns out he is an accountant -- and i end up giving him my number.

i mean, i don't really care if it doesn't go anywhere because i'm stuck down here in dublin anyway, but BOTH of them called me the next day. what is this? this certainly isn't my life. not that i am complaining, though... nice to at least have options to go out on a date every now and then.

went on a date saturday night with another boy i met last weekend at sheldon's place... he is really cute -- and nice -- and i think the feeling is mutual that we'd like to get to know each other better. the distance is a bitch, though, when trying to date somebody so i think we'll keep it casual. still very early to be talking about that sort of thing anyway.

did brunch with david and my buddy sean on sunday at apres diem -- mmm, how i love eggs bendict and fresh-squeezed orange juice. sean is a trip, of course and it's always nice catching up on his latest escapedes. he introduced me to the concept of supersets a few weeks ago and his shoulders really do look better... jonathon and i tried them at the gym today and i really thought they were going to kill me. try doing the bench press and immediately switching to the pec fly with no break (a superset is when you do back-to-back sets of a different exercise that works a similar muscle group -- supposedly great for building mass).

sunday evening did dinner with the 'rents and gave the 164 a spin (i try to drive it whenever i'm in macon so it doesn't set up too long). it actually runs quite reliably, but it needs some suspension and brake work before it is truly roadworthy. i'm considering going ahead and spending some money on it. my poor old white volvo is on its last legs, and i don't want to sink any money into it -- and i'm loathe to have a car payment, so a new car is not an option (especially since, in true south georgia fashion, my parents have two spare vehicles in the backyard in case mine finally kicks the bucket).
